Austin Kleon released!
I released Austin Kleon into the wild this week.
That is, I placed a copy of his most recent book into our neighborhood “little free library” for anyone to pick up and take. It seemed like the right thing to do.
I am a huge fan of Austin and his work. This is the 5th copy of “Show Your Work” that I have bought — so far! I love the many insights he shares in “Show Your Work,” (which I constantly mis-remember as “Share Your Work”), and I love the little free library idea, and was delighted recently to find one nearby. Combining the two — by sharing “Show Your Work” — naturally sprang to my mind.
So when Austin was wrapping up his book tour recently with one final talk at BookPeople, I decided to share my plan and ask him to personalize the copy for the Zilker neighborhood.
He loved the idea, signed it and remarked he had released a few copies into his own neighborhood’s little free library as well. I added a couple of notes about what to do and proudly walked it over to the local little free library.
Off it goes — I did add a doodle-selfie at the end, and asked people to post their own adventures with Austin’s book, with the hashtag #readandrelease, so maybe someone will respond and the Zilker free range copy will show up again somewhere.
Keep your eyes out for it, and I’ll keep you posted.
