3 from the Heart

My wife & I love movies, and we just discovered another romantic comedy on Netflix we found enchanting. Here’s a look at that one and a couple of other favorites from that genre for your potential Saturday viewing. Enjoy!

Man Up!

A tale of mistaken identity — on a blind date — with all the comic ramifications, hilariously played out by Simon Pegg and Lake Bell against the backdrop of an afternoon and evening in London. Eventually, the truth comes out — and that’s when it really gets interesting.

The Holiday

Perfect Christmas season rom-com featuring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet with able assists from Jude Law and Jack Black. Nancy Meyers wrote & directed this heart warmer. The amazing Eli Wallach shines in his role as an aging scriptwriter neighbor who gets to explain the concept of the “meet-cute.”

The 3-way telephone conversation scene brilliantly

When Harry Met Sally

By now a “golden oldie,” this remains one of our favorite love stories. Billy Crystal absolutely crushes his role and Meg Ryan plays a perfect counterpart to him through changing circumstances that push them together, push them apart and finally draw them together — forever.

And of course, there’s the infamous deli scene wherein director Rob Reiner’s mother gets to deliver the now-classic line: “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Yes, these movies focus on love — and comedy — and provide the “Happily Ever After” ending we expect from a rom-com.

Because we all deserve a “Happily Ever After” ending — so have 3 on me!
