…like get married — years ago!
Happy Anniversary to good friends David and Anne Ducharme-Jones!
In addition to being life partners for many years, these two partner together in song as well. Over the last several years, I have had the chance to hear them play many times, first meeting Dave when he was playing guitar for Will T. Massey. Sara & I would go on to befriend both Dave & Annie as well getting to meet and befriend other folks we’d see at their shows, loosely forming our own little tribe of Ducharme-Jones fans — complete with dancing girls!
Well, it’s been about a year since they left Austin to return home to Des Moines, Iowa. While their leaving Austin was not a deciding factor in Sara & I leaving, it did seem like yet another signal of some sort. One less reason to stay…
Anyway, Dave & Annie write and play adult love songs, with a rich rock & roll maturity. Instead of reading about them, though, I’ll stop blathering and let you watch a few tunes in celebration of a love that lasts.
With a little bit of luck tonight,
I think things are gonna work out right —
I can feel it in the air.
Your laughter paints my darkest skies,
You body soothes my soul.
Your emerald eyes, they hypnotize —
You know I love you so.
If you’re angry, let me know it.
When you love me, really show it.
Whatever it is, just lay it on the line.
‘Cause I’m here and I can take it.
There’s no need for you to fake it,
Or hesitate, afraid of what you’ll find
Beside you now.
I would sell my soul for you,
Tell God it was just something I had to do…
Gotta take a chance on love
Or what the hell are we here for?
You only get back what you put in —
And, baby, I’m in!
Miss getting to see you guys play more often — congratulations on another anniversary!
Keep that good love thang going, ya crazy kids!
