Let there be Peace on Earth — and let it begin with me.
Today, we celebrate World Peace Day, first observed in 1982 as a day for dediacting ourselves to world peace. With this year’s Day of Peace falling on Friday, participating groups around the world will celebrate through the weekend for an International Weekend of Peace.
Here are some quick links to explain more about the concept, with plenty of opportunities to join in this ongoing and annual world-wide quest to “wage peace.” Please join us in promoting peace this weekend.
We invite you to join us by participating in peace activities in your city, creatively contributing, and amplifying our message through social media. Everyone, everywhere, together.
1 Billion Acts of Peace — in 10 Days!
Today, on September 21st, the International Day of Peace, two global nonprofits, Kids for Peace and Peace One Day, joined by Good News Network, have launched #DoItForPeace, a worldwide campaign to ignite one billion people to take action for peace.
Finally, I leave you with a song today popular in my youth, written by Ed McCurdy and recorded by Simon & Garfunkel during the tumultous days of the Vietnam War.
Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.
Peace!
