Today I head north to see the second night of Dead & Company at Red Rocks. Unlike most of my Dead runs through the years, though, I will be making the first leg of this flight solo. I’ll meet up with an old friend, Joanna, in Boulder to catch a ride to the show itself.
See, I am a perennial passenger these days. Whenever Sara & I go somewhere, she prefers to drive, so I take shotgun and play navigator (to amusing results sometimes).
For Dead shows and music festivals, Albert has been “my driver” for years. Even for the Red Rocks shows in June, he drove up from central Texas and picked me up for the shows.
Today, it’s just me in the car heading north. I don’t mind driving. I have certainly done my share of solo driving, including my post-college meanderings around Texas, the southwest and the western half of the country.
So, drink that coffee and pack your bags, Buller! Miles to go before…yeah, you know…
