Hard to believe it’s been six years since Will’s last official CD release, The Weathering. I suppose we’re lucky he managed to finish that effort, given he was starting to fade back into the fog of schizophrenia again.
This was another of the break-up tunes Will had written over a couple of previous years and then compiled for the album with the help of long-time guitarist & musical partner, Dave Ducharme-Jones.
I found a leaf in my jacket
In the shape of a heart.
You put it there
In our last days together.
Walking through lonesome seasons
From each other and a kiss,
We left us in a different forever.
I would never sail into it all again.
I’m lucky where I’ve been,
There’s no doubt.
I’m a heartbreak away
From you then,
But I know loving is what
Living is about.
We got in deep.
Like a couple of kids.
Dunkin’ each other
And doing cannonballs off the dock.
We played a little rough
And we both got hurt.
But sometimes, baby,
Didn’t we beat the clock?
I would never sail into it all again.
I’m lucky where I’ve been,
There’s no doubt.
I’m a heartbreak away
From you then,
But I know loving is what
Living is about.
When we’re gone
And the journey has been far,
The love lives on,
Like light from the stars.
I was never yours
And you were never mine,
But our souls knew shores
Of space and time.
I would never sail into it all again.
I’m lucky where I’ve been,
There’s no doubt.
I’m a heartbreak away
From you then,
But I know loving is what
Living is about.I’m a heartbreak away
From you then,
But I know loving is what
Living is about.
