Yesterday, I shared links to the live performances from last week’s finalists in the 2024 New Folk competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival. 24 songwriters each played 2 songs and the judges then had the difficult task of selecting only 5 of them to perform longer sets in today’s New Folk Winners concert.

Just being selected as a New Folk finalist is an incredible achievement. Past finalists not selected as “winners” have included Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, and James McMurtry. So don’t forget the other 2024 New Folk finalists. There’s not a “loser” in the group and you just might catch a rising star in the making!
